Future updates.

Since we reached a milestone with the OSX version, It is time to think about the new future updates!
For now, I have the following schedule:

Top priority short term
  • -          Screenshot button
  • -          Unify the big and mini version. Allowing swap
  • -          Megu Accessories Mechanics! Making your megu more stylish!
  • -          Animated furniture/houses
  • -          Implement some missing interface buttons (furniture jumping etc)
  • -          Reclassify megus by size and type
  • -          Shiny version (alternate color)
  • -          Autumn items
  • -       Christmas items


Top priority long term
  • -          Chromebook version
  • -          Java version (maybe linked to the chromebook issue).
  • -          Draw accessories
  • -          Megu Diary (based on time since last login, the megu will write some notes about what he did during the day)
Under study
  • -          Facebook connection
  • -          Twitter connection
  • -          Online mode 
  • -     Petpets. I didn't see them personally but I can check
  • -     Stray version
  • -     Minigames (no idea)

Update: New version of Windows client and new OSX client

Hello, this is Sugiyama speaking.
I am glad to announce an updated version of kpm port for Windows and the new client for OSX. 
I am sorry about the delay, preparing this update took longer than planned, given the unfortunate OSX bug (which I thank everyone for helping! without you it would take way longer) plus the new features I wanted to add (Sugiyama couldn't stop!). I also got sick this week so I couldn't work at full force...

I am happy to tell you that there are a lot of new features and surprises. These are some changes you will find in both Windows and OSX clients:

  •  Complete interface update;
  •  Use food items as furniture items;
  •  Save/Load/Clear house;
  •  Sound control options: BGM and soundtrack;
  •  Celebration items and house for the new OSX client;
  •  Screen messages: Megu is expressing himself again!!
  • Implementing some new commands that were missing (such as removing friends)

To make sure that there will be no problems on the update, please do the following:
- Copy your gamedata folder to somewhere else.
- Rename the house.megu file (inside house directory) to "SAVDEFAULT.house" (must be this name!).
- make a clean install, do not overwrite the files (to ensure that you are using the newest files)
If you are porting from windows to OSX, open the .app as a directory, go to resource and put the files inside the gamedata located there.
This is a new update but there is more to come soon.

Megu for MacOSX (beta version)

Hungry MEGU?

I went to a walk with Megu and we ate a lot of sweets. We ordered too many tarts! But now we have a lot of yummy food at home. Megu can now store food and call some friends for tea party.




What do you think Megu would like to do in his house later on?

Tutorial for KPMegu port

Hello, This is Sugiyama.

I was supposed to release a simple tutorial on how to control the MEGUs and edit the furniture. I apologize for the delay.

The command sheet is as follows:

On Default Mode
1- Right click: call half of the megus to the mouse position walking.
2- Double right click: call half of the megus to the mouse position running.
3- Left click: call the other half of the megus to the mouse position walking.
4- Double left click: call the other half of megus to the mouse position running.
5- Mouse wheel button holding: Pet mode (like the app).

Edit Mode:

1- Right click: select (holds) furniture.
2- Right click again: release furniture.
3- Backspace: rotate furniture.

The edit mode has layers to better displace the furniture. This is a new feature that was not present on KPM original, making it easier to set up the stuff the way you want.

1- page up: move one layer up.
2- page down: move one layer down.
3- Home: send to front
4- End: send to back
5- Delete: delete furniture

Also, the game doesn't have the furniture limit restriction as the app, so feel free to decorate the way you want.

Creating a friend and sharing with others:

To share your megu to others, go to gamedata/friends, copy the file player.megu and rename it the way you want (please keep the original player.megu where it is). Then give this file to your friend and leave it on the same directory (gamedata/friends). It will show on the invite friends list.

A little about myself and the Kawaii Pet Megu Port project

Hello, this is the Developer team speaking.

I think I should talk a little about myself and the project as a whole, so maybe I can gain some trust from you users and establish a good relationship with you.

First of all, Nobuo Sugiyama is a fictional character which represents the "megu team", so he is the front man for all announcements and stuff. When I have something personal (like this post and the disclaimer) will be written clearly on the introduction. This project is fan-made not related to GREE INC or Feymann INC. Any inquiries should be send to this blog or the e-mail sugiyama.megu@gmail.com . Don't e-mail the original developer please.

About myself,  Like you guys ,I loved kawaii pet megu and was deeply sad when it GREE decided to shut down KPM.  I'm currently a PhD Foreign Researcher on an university in Japan with some programming skills and (a lot of ) free time. My megu (was an ALF called Bolino) travelled with me from my mother country to Japan and made company to me ever since.

Since the game shut down, I've been wondering if I should start a project remaking the game from scratch. On the past three months I decided to do it just for practicing my programming skills (I have an interest in game development but I've never made a game fully). The project grew and it became the Kawaii Pet Megu Port Project.

The "Development team" is composed of myself and (occasionally) my girlfriend, doing some drawings on her free time. As you can see, the "development team" is VERY small, so I ask you to have patience with debugging, updates and replying e-mails.

I apologize for the shady link and installer I used to distribute. That was the first free file host that I found and it actually caused a really bad impression. The installer was not as I expected (no desktop icon pretty much killed it), I will probably distribute as a .ZIP next time. Either way, does anyone knows a good place to host the executable? at least something less shady...

 About virus and stuff, unless you are downloading from another source other than the one available on this blog, I can guarantee that it is not a virus nor contain one. Fortunately I'm not smart enough to program a virus (and I don't even want to).

Regarding the several bugs related to dlls and stuff, I apologize, since this is my first project which the program I made goes directly to 3rd party users, so probably a lot of stuff may slip. Nevertheless, I want to keep contact with the users, I will gladly read all those e-mails. Also I'm in Japan so my timezone is weird, so again it may take some time to reply.
